Street Roller Hockey League Under Threat

Thursday 9th June / presented by Paul Hunt

Australia’s only street hockey league is facing an uncertain future.

The Street Roller Hockey League, who teamed up with the local bowls club for financial reasons, has had to cease its matches to abide by sound restrictions.

After a series of noise complaints and monitoring at it’s home in Bayswater, the local council have written to the club premises with notice to keep the noise down.

The unusual part is that while the matches finish at 7pm, the residents still insist the matches are overly loud and disrupt sleep.

Eamonn Lousey, one of the organisers of the Street Roller Hockey League, joined Paul Van Lieshout to discuss the league's future.
