Study Reveals Dogs In Classrooms Improve Students’ Mental Well-Being

New research has shown that having a dog in the classroom can improve the mental well-being of students. The research was carried out by Dr Lisa Holmes and her dog Watson on paramedical students at Edith Cowan University.

Dr Holmes joined Jesse on On The Record and explains that originally she wanted to increase her students’ understanding of the use of assistance dogs in the community, but in the process found that there were social and emotional benefits to the students of having Watson present.
