The Power of Speech

Friday 17th June / posted by Chris Wheeldon

Nearly 25 years ago a hip-hop act burst onto the scene and broke the mould with a message of love, hope and positivity.

Arrested Development dropped their debut album 3 Years, 5 Months & 2 Days in the Life Of… in 1992 and was the first hip-hop act to win a grammy for best new artist for the song Tennessee.

But It was about more than the songs: they stood up for the rights of underprivileged people, they talked about issues like homelessness and donated money to good causes.

The collective is about to embark on a greatest hits to Australia in August.

Founding member, MC and producer Speech will be out front and he called in to Breakfast with Caitlin.
