The View From Here #17: Verge Collection

Wednesday 14th September / posted by Chris Wheeldon

RTRFM’s award-nominated short film series The View From Here returns for the penultimate episode of its second season, featuring Verge Collection in the cozy confines of the Hula Bula Bar in Perth.

Episode 17 sees the Perth quartet blaze through 20 minutes of brilliant, understated and hook-heavy Australiana in the one of Perth's most intimate inner-city haunts. Ben Arnold's sophisticated yet simple lyricism and vocal delivery is all the more endearing with a visual reference, imbuing tales of suburban simplicity with subtle but immense emotional weight.

On the back of modern classics Class of 09, Our Place and new single Postcodes, Verge Collection have spent the last 12 months darting around the country, playing Groovin’ the Moo in Bunbury, supporting NSW's Skeggs at home and on the east coast plus sharing the bills with the likes of Cold War Kids, Saskwatch and Bad//Dreems.

They were a highlight of RTRFM’s In the Pines back in April, blew minds at BIGSOUND in Brisbane and are gearing up for the release of their debut EP, Open Plan Living, out later this month.
