Top Barrister Offers Pro Bono Work For Doctors

Thursday 15th October / presented by Tanya Bunter

Doctors at Melbourne’s Royal Children’s Hospital are refusing to discharge  asylum seekers and their children to protect them from being sent back to detention.

Nearly 1000 doctors and nurses at the hospital took a stand against children being held in detention.

They’re calling on the federal government to change its policy of detaining children in immigration facilities where an effective treatment and health improvement is almost impossible.

Many people including Victoria’s Health Minister back the Royal Children’s Hospital staff and support the call for change in this unacceptable situation.

Another voice in this discussion is human rights and refugee advocate and author Julian Burnside and he joined Tanya Bunter on The Mag.
