Understorey: Beeliar Voices

Wednesday 11th November / presented by Elizabeth PO’ Adrian Glamorgan

There are different opinions within Liberal government ranks today about whether it intends to impose a truck toll on the proposed Roe 8, even though the road will stop well short of Fremantle Port.  This adds to ongoing concerns about whether the Barnett state government project will be able to receive federal funding, given the Premier has indefinitely deferred a key decision about a vital stage of its Perth Freight Link.

There are also unanswered questions about how Main Roads will be able to ensure trucks aren't stranded in congestion somewhere in the southern suburbs.  The Understorey team bring us voices from last month's Senate public hearing, even before the latest state government confusion, to learn more from residents from Hamilton Hill, Coolbellup and Bibra Lake about how the state government's road planning and practice is impacting on their lives, and the landscapes they treasure.
