Understorey – Climate Reality Ready?

Wednesday 11th September / presented by Elizabeth PO’ Adrian Glamorgan

We speak with Paul Chatterton, Forest and Climate initiative with WWF, about an innovative plan to link action against deforestation, climate change and supporting better governance. With Pacific Islander Leaders – including Australia – calling for climate leadership in last week’s Majuro Declaration, the realities and urgencies of climate change are in full view.

Our new federal government intends to act on climate change by no longer charging big business for carbon pollution, ending renewable energy investments, and relying on “direct action”, saving $7.4 billion although this will forgo $13.5 billion in revenues.   An additional $4.5 billion in forward estimates will be taken from foreign aid for poorer nations, in order to invest in roads and tunnels over the next few years.

Are we climate reality ready?
