Understorey: Eroding Environmental Justice

Think of the Environmental Defender’s Office as “legal aid for the environment.”  The EDO came to the rescue when James Price Point was going to be turned into a giant gas hub, and the Environmental Protection Authority was caught making decisions under the shadow of many conflicts of interest.

But EDOs around the country have been completely defunded by the Abbott federal government, and the Barnett state government has also reduced its contribution to EDO WA.

So how will independent legal advice survive in WA?
