Understorey: Outliving Nuclear Weapons

Wednesday 1st October / presented by Elizabeth PO’ Adrian Glamorgan

Cities are not nuclear targets," said Fremantle Mayor Brad Pettitt at last week 's inaugural Mayors for Peace conference. But can we imagine a nuclear weapon attack on civilians? Junko Morimoto, survivor of the atomic bombing of Hiroshima, shares her rare story of surviving the inferno.

Drawing on international humanitarian law, Yvette Zegenhagen from the Red Cross explains why civil society and hundreds of countries around the world are reaching the conclusion that nuclear weapons should be totally eliminated.

Another Understorey special in the "Beyond Nuclear War and Radioactive Peace" series brought by Elizabeth PO' and Adrian Glamorgan.
