Understorey: Research that Matters

Wednesday 23rd July / presented by Elizabeth PO’ Adrian Glamorgan

Find out why coal mining in the Kimberley and Collie doesn’t add up financially or environmentally; why keeping hundreds of millions of dollars aside for a port at Oakajee is wasteful; and why the state government’s fulsome assistance to mining isn’t in Western Australians’ best economic interests.

Meet the researchers at The Australia Institute who bring rigorous analysis to spurious claims from corporations and governments. From climate action to infrastructure, from bank rip-offs of clients to state government assistance to mining companies, from renewable energy targets to the harm of wealth inequality, this independent progressive think-tank uses hard evidence to press reset and think again our economic, environmental and social future.
