Wastewater Drug Test

Wednesday 14th June / presented by Em Burrows

Recent analysis of backwater in Perth and Bunbury has shown a massive decline of methyl amphetamine in the system.

Testing undertaken by the WA Police Waste Water Analysis Project shows a reduction in the presence of meth by 26% in the Perth Area, and a reduction of 41% in Bunbury, compared to last year.

While the findings are undeniably positive for the meth capital of Australia, both the government and analysts are advising caution.

Over both the high prevalence of ice in the community, and the statistical significance and interpretation of backwater testing.

UWAs Professor Anas Ghadouani spoke to Em Burrows on The Mag about these finding.
