West Australian of the Year Award Part 1

Tuesday 22nd October / presented by Daniel Cleary

The finalists for theWest Australian of the Year Awardinclude a global poverty campaigner, an advocate for good mental health, a conservationist, and a cancer researcher.

This morning, we're talking to two of these nominees, First is Professor Bruce Robinson - a world leader in the study of asbestos related cancers.

Bruce and his team are responsible for many breakthroughs, including the first blood test for Mesothelioma.

If cancer research wasn't enough, Bruce has also produced Breaking Bad News, a course to help doctors with those conversations that you never want to have, written a number of books and DVDs for fathering, runs a program to connect children with their father figure, and also has donated many hours to rural Indonesian medical clinics.

Daniel spoke to him earlier that morning.
