What is International Humanitarian Law?

War is something that is so common in our society that we’ll happily purchase a game that is set in a battlefield.

But when you’re playing Call of Duty do you ever stop to think if any laws govern conflict?

The International Humanitarian Law was agreed upon by all countries in the world to help protect those caught in the crossfires of war.

However ever changing technology has forced the International Humanitarian Law to always be updated, raising questions about how people will ever be punished for breaking these rules…

RTRFM Youth reporter Frankie Mann spoke to International Humanitarian Law officer, Eve Massingham about what it is they do, and also to the Director of the Military Law Centre, Ian Henderson, about how technology affects warfare.
