White Ribbon To End Violence Against Women

Monday 25th November / presented by Rewi Lyall

Today is White Ribbon Day – Australia’s campaign to stop violence against women.

It’s oath: never to commit, excuse or remain silent about violence against women.

It’s a vital campaign because there’s still a lot of work to do.

Intimate partner violence is the most common type of violence against women, affecting 30 per cent of women worldwide.

And Australia isn’t immune.

Violence against women is a serious problem – at least one woman is killed every week by a current or former partner.

White Ribbon Day begins today and continues to campaign for 16 days – leading to Human Rights Day on December 10.

Women’s Council for Domestic Violence Services WA CEO Angela Hartwig joined Peter Barr this morning Play white ribbon 1

Member for Victoria Park and Ambassador for White Ribbon, Ben Wyatt spoke to Rewi Lyall also.  Play white ribbon 2
