Within Proximity

Friday 18th October / presented by Daniel Cleary

The Proximity Festival is back with more one-on-one intimate performances that invade your personal space bubble.

The artist-run initiative encourages artists from all disciplines to experiment with new modes of practice in the creation of participatory art.

Twelve artists have just finished a two-week LAB at PICA - preparing for their performance next week - and we have four of them to emulate the spirit and style of Proximity this morning on Artbeat.

First is Loren Kronemyer, an internationally exhibiting artist from Los Angeles.

Loren works to create poetic, yet absurd interactions between the individual and the environment, focusing on how creative impulse marks and alters the living world…

Playwright, director and performance artist, Ian Sinclair is the current recipient of the Stages WA Co-Commission Grant that invites emerging playwrights into their program in association with the Blue Room Theatre.

Ian’s practice explores escapism and modern mythopoesis…

Actor, writer and director, Humphrey Bower is our last guest for the Artbeat Proximity special this morning.

Humphrey has worked with main stage and independent companies and artists nationally and is also the Artistic Director of Night Train Productions…

Visual artist Daniel Nevin, is also part of our Proximity Festival special this morning on Artbeat.

Daniel uses an experimental methodology that combines elements of traditional photography and modern digital image making to product ephemeral images…
