Young Women Against Sexual Violence

Young Women Against Sexual Violence is a Perth based organisation shining a light on the pervasiveness of sexual assault in our community – offering a support network for folk with lived experiences.

Headed by Joey Lim and Micalea Raefel, the group are hoping to raise awareness of the issue and encourage open and reflective discussions to change behaviours, particularly those of young men towards women. Their work has never been more important with national discussions around sexual assault brought to the forefront through Brittany Higgins sharing her story, as well as allegations brought against former Attorney General Chritian Porter.

However, as the girls share, this issue has existed long before the Canberra bubble burst and more work needs to be done to target assault locally. Danielle Raffaele recently caught up with the girls to chat about their upcoming event Why I Didn’t Report .
