Get to know Glaucio

I’m Brazilian from Rio de Janeiro and moved to Perth early 2013. On that time, I thought it would be a good idea listening some radio to learn English, first reason I came here. So, I was coming back from work at night and it was playing “Os Mutantes”, psychedelic Brazilian rock band from 70’s, and just blew my mind (I think the show was El Ritmo!).

After that day, I’ve got hooked by RTR FM. My main occupation outside it’s barista but I also play Bass guitar in a Reggae band and spin some records around. It’s good to be part of RTRFM cause bring me back good memories. I have a journalist degree in Brazil and during my Uni I did some work experience in a radio. One of the reasons I love to be a presenter on RTRFM it’s to get involved with amazing people and the best of local music and musicians. But It’s also really cool knowing that I’m sending my voice and tunes of my collection to someone, somewhere, out there, straight out from this magic box called radio.

How did you become involved in the station?

I started to support the radio donating at the Radiothon, during one of my favorite shows, Jamdown Vershun. Then I’ve started to follow the radio a bit more and heard about the training course. This was the step that make the magic happens and put me to broadcast some shows on RTRFM couple of years ago.

Tell us about your most memorable gig, either attending or playing at?

I have been in a few memorable gigs but the one I’ve chosen to share here it’s The Police in 2007 at Maracana Stadium, in Rio de Janeiro. Original members, outstanding sound system and a unique vibe you can only feel in Brazil. And playing was in Christmas Island @ Jamdown Reggae Festival celebrating the Territory Day in 2022. The island is a piece of paradise on earth. And that’s say it all.
