Volunteering at RTRFM

RTRFM is a listener-supported, volunteer-based not-for-profit radio station. We have a team of 9 staff members and over 300 volunteers that make this station go around.

Our presenters, all 250 of them, do it for nothing. They give up their time and quite often their own money to bring you RTRFM 24/7 365 days a year. We also have close to 50 office volunteers that help with everything from receptionist duties, maintaining the CD library, podcasting of stories, editing radio pieces, Assistant Producing of the Morning Magazine show and being reporters for the Youth News Project.

If you would like to be part of the team, there are a few things you can do:
  • Listen to RTRFM. If you want to work here, know what we do.
  • Care about the community around you.
  • Listen to local music.
  • Express yourself. Be different. Go against the grain.

What RTRFM expects of Office Volunteers

The qualities that are expected of RTRFM Office Volunteers include; punctuality, reliability, work autonomously, and to work in a team environment.

This is because RTRFM relies heavily on the contribution the Volunteers make to the organisation. Without these elements the organisation will not function to the capacity that is expected.

The Office Volunteers that work at RTRFM have been selected due to the potential and actual capacities that they have shown in their induction.
