Indymedia: CCWA challenge Burrup Hub expansion

In the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic, both the Federal and State governments are pushing fossil fuels as a path to economic recovery.

In WA, BHP and Woodside are seeking to expand their LNG operations, including the proposed Scarborough expansion on the Burrup peninsula.

The Conservation Council of Western Australia have been challenging the plans in court and are campaigning for an independent investigation into the Burrup Hub project.

CCWA director Piers Verstegen spoke to Indymedia‘s Ray Grenfell about the ecological repercussions of the Scarborough field plans.
