Understorey: Climate Emergency 2019~Transition to a Social Ecology

Dr Marina Lewis is a social ecologist researching the best ways to transition from the climate emergency (and our numerous other environmental crises) to a healthier way of being. Building on the WHO's Ottawa Charter, a public health approach worthy of every environmental campaigner's list, Dr Lewis spoke to eighteen prominent social and environmental leaders in Australia engaged in this transition to find out ways to bring greater consciousness of our human-ecological inextricability.  This time Understorey hears how children need more time in nature, and how a sensitivity to the ubiquitous sentience of life may be an important quality for each and all of us to develop, if we are to face the environmental challenges squarely.   (Photo: A Glamorgan)
