Cuts in Emergency Funding

WACOSS CEO Louise Giolitto joined us on our On the Record segment with Lawrence Drown to discuss the recent cut in emergency relief funding from our federal social services.

Since the pandemic, emergency relief funding from our federal social services and and Lotterywest has tripled. However, this funding is being stripped back to pre-pandemic levels at the end of the month, despite an increase in peoples assistance for tenancy issues, and a large proportion of people seeking emergency relief services for housing, food, and monetary support.

During the segment, Louise discussed the impact this cut will have on these people, how many people will be affected, and what we as a community can do to help.
