Rewind on RTRFM – 27 August 2021

In the lull after a stellar Radiothon, RTRFM’s back to normal programming, which of course included some meaty discussions, collecting in this week’s Rewind.

We begin by asking Professor Axel Bruns about the Australian Search Experience, a citizen science project looking at nationwide search trends.

Next, we speak to Extinction Rebellion member Emma Sangalli about the six people whose homes were raided by WA police after leaving chalk messages on a bridge in the CBD. We’ll find out what XR have planned for this year, and why the State Government might be using harsh penalties against climate activists.

Finally, we speak to Jesuit Refugee Service staff member and human rights activist Zaki Hadari about the chaos in Kabul. Zaki is a Hazara man who fled Afghanistan as a teenager, and he gave us some insight into the devastating ramifications of the USA’s sudden withdrawal from the country.

Rewind is RTRFM’s talks digest, a round-up of the station’s most notable stories. Each episode features three of the most thought-provoking, timely, or surprising pieces put to air – plus a quick overview of what’s been on our radar. For everything else, check out the features on our website – or tune in live on 92.1.
