Science With Commander Kat
23/09/2021 Commander Kat has returned once again to join Breakfast With Taylah, for an intriguing episode that covers across a broad array of developing scientific topics and stories.
Part One goes in depth, extrapolating upon the application and effectiveness of the ‘Placebo Effect’ during the testing of clinical control groups, including whether the aforementioned form of treatment is observable in certain situations when implemented into practices regarding the development of new medicine.
Along the way, Kat and Taylah encounter ‘the next generation of glowing plants’, where MIT engineers used nanoparticles that store and gradually release light, to create light-emitting plants that can be charged repeatedly, and whether the path towards plant-based lighting will be efficient enough for the future of ‘clean lighting’ & ‘renewable chemical energy’.
Part Two involves the conversation venturing off further, exploring which ‘specific musical genres’ are considered most ‘contagious’ to listen to, and if there are any strong resemblances involved between virality of the associated musical genres and the epidemic curves present during the spread of infectious diseases.
Lastly, the conversation draws to a close, where Kat and Taylah converse in discussion over the complexities of the English language and ‘how reported speech may have shaped our grammar and syntax’.
