Fridays at LoCale: The Creole Collective

Members of  The Creole Collective, Brigitte Underwood-Legron from The Seychelles, and Nic Casta from Mauritius, chat with Fiona Bartholomaeus about a series of free family-friendly events are coming to Midland.

The first Fridays at LoCale on 14 January, presented as part of FRINGE WORLD 2022, will see The Creole Collective take you on a journey through the Indian Ocean islands and the makings of a creole society.

In addition to Séga music and dance, there will be a performance by current Midland Junction Arts Centre artists in residence Whiskey & Boots and fun, free art activities, including creole face painting, tote bag printing, and creating recycled musical instruments. Traditional creole cuisine will be available to purchase, or you can bring your own picnic to this alcohol-free event.

Fridays at LoCale will continue monthly until March, with performances by the likes of Trinity Studio of Irish Dance and the Tamil Association of WA. Visit www.midlandjunctionartscentre.com.au for more information on these events in the coming weeks.
