FRINGE WORLD 2022: Late Night Speakeasy Takes Fringe Festival By Roaring Force

“Late Night Speakeasy” invites you to throw on your glad rags and join us for a night of swingin’ fun featuring a lively 9-Piece swinging Jazz band. The perfect equation for a perfect night … popular lively jazz music of the 20s, the dancing and style it evokes and the era’s raucous ambience equals party mood, all of which pay homage to one of Prohibition’s worst kept secret ‘The Speakeasy’.

On The Record presenter Jeff Bullen took the opportunity to catch up and chat with Catherine Summers, who is a United Kingdom born-Perth-based Contemporary Jazz Vocalist and Performer.

Together they sit down to discuss the setup of the performance show, including historical backgrounds of United States History during the 1920s, and how the genre of Jazz music managed to maintain relevance in today’s music culture.
