‘Understanding Mass Influence’ report for the Department of Defence

With the Federal election around the corner, a team of academics who prepared a report on misinformation for the Department of Defense has urged the Australian government to have measures in place to ensure the election isn’t influenced by misinformation campaigns as seen overseas.

Edith Cowan University was one of several institutions involved in preparing the report, which examined how Russia, Cambridge Analytica and Facebook played roles in influencing the democratic process in several countries. Dr Carmen Jacques explains.
