Effects of COVID-19 on the brain

New research from the UK has found an overall reduction in brain size of patients after contracting COVID-19.

The study compared MRI scans of people before and after contracting COVID-19, and identified thinning of the brain tissue particularly in areas relating to memory, smell and taste.

Curtin University brain expert Dr. Sarah Hellewell explains that there’s no need for Australians to panic just yet, as we are yet to see evidence of long term damage.

Dr. Sarah Helewell spoke to Fiona On The Record to discuss the findings of the study.
