Claire McKinnon from the Lock the Gate Alliance of WA

WA Premier Mark McGowan is being targeted by climate activists for proposing new laws that they say will allow gas and mining companies to increase emissions.

The new laws are intended to support the development of Carbon-Capture and Storage technology that would sequester greenhouse gasses into the earth. CCS, as it’s known, is also a major part of the federal government’s current climate change plan. However, the technology is so far delivering underwhelming results, while mining activity continues to expand.
