Gay Law Reform and The Death of Dr Duncan

The death of Dr George Ian Ogilvie Duncan is one of Australia’s most notorious historical hate crimes. Duncan’s was a death with far-reaching ramifications on gay law reform.

The Death of Dr Duncan is the work of Tim Reeves, who has spent thirty years researching the event and its impact.

The ramifications of Duncan’s death – specifically, gay law reform – were felt not just within Australia, but also the English-speaking world.

Earlier this month, an Oratorio called Watershed: The Death of Dr Duncan was staged at the Adelaide Festival.

RTRFM’s Danae Gibson interviewed Tim Reeves ahead of the fiftieth anniversary of Dr Duncan’s death and asked Reeves if he enjoyed the festival event.
