In response to the war in Ukraine, the Wimbledon championships will consider banning Russian players from taking part in its 2022 tournament.

But this isn’t the first time the sporting arena has been used to show support for political positions, but how will players be able to demonstrate these assurances, and how will their absences impact attitudes towards the invasion.
