More than a fifth of Australians struggling with food insecurity

Every year, FoodBank’s hunger report investigates how many Australians are struggling to put food on the table and why.

They found that in the last twelve months 21 per cent of Australians – more than five million people – dealt with food insecurity. Children were the worst hit.

FoodBank WA chief executive Kate O’Hara joined Fiona Bartholomaeus for On the Record to tell us what needs to be done.
