Anger, grief, cynicism and hope: Babitha chats about her brand new album Brighter Side of Blue

Babitha is the solo alt-country project of Eora/Sydney based singer-songwriter, Imogen Grist. Brighter Side of Blue is her debut album,  arriving two years after her debut EP Through the Light.

The record explores a wide range of sounds and traditions with nuance and playfulness. Bolstered by a band of local stars in their own right, Brighter Side of Blue oscillates between moments of an almost myth-making degree of coolness and breathtaking vulnerability. But it’s the voice of Babitha that provides an antidote for the themes and pallets that she contends with, marked by an almost meditative phrasing and tone that is always heart-rending but never histrionic.

Babitha calls into the studio to chat with Out To Lunch presenter Mark Neal about her debut album and her upcoming plans for touring.
