Australian minimal wave hero Karen Marks announces her live debut

Karen Marks, the Melbourne-based underground musician known for producing one of Australia’s most prominent minimal wave tracks, the 1981 single Cold Café, is set to perform live for the first time. She will take the stage for a special one-time performance at Melbourne Town Hall on Friday, April 28.

Almost four decades since its domestic release, Cold Café has finally reaped its deserved international credit to become one of Australia’s most recognised minimal wave recordings.

Marks’ live performance will be backed by a band consisting of Ash Wednesday (of JAB, Models, and Einstürzende Neubauten), Charlie Owen from Beasts of Bourbon, Adam Learner from Blue Ruin, Mal Kilpatrick from Human Backs, and Rick Hawkins from Grasshole with support from YL Hooi and Modal Melodies will also be performing as support acts.
