Dr Robyn Choi on Auditory Processing Disorders

3-5% of school aged children suffer from auditory processing disorder. Could dancing be the solution?

Central Auditory Processing Disorder (CAPD) is a disorder that affects a person’s ability to understand and process sounds. Between 2-7% of the general population have CAPD – an estimated 30,000 children in WA.

The University of Western Australia and Telethon Kids Institute’s Dr Robyn Choi recently led research aimed to treat children with CAPD by encouraging them to respond to musical cues with different movement, or dancing.

Dr Robyn Choi discusses her findings with Fiona Bartholomaeus on On The Record
