Aboriginal Art and Knowledge Unlocks Mystery of Fairy Circles

Fairy circles, the barren patches which make polka-dot patterns in dry and desert areas, were first described by scientists in Namibia in the 1970s, sparking global debate about the phenomenon.

Though a direct cause as never been settled on, Aboriginal peoples’ knowledge may of unlocked the scientific mystery of ‘fairy circles’ which occur across Australia’s desert regions.

Theo Evans from UWA’s School of Biological Sciences discusses this new discovery further with Fiona Bartholomaeus.
