Gravel Road: The story of Jay Minning

“Gravel Road is the story of Jay Minning, singer-songwriter of the most remote rock band in the world, the Desert Stars. His four-piece band are traditional land owners of Spinifex Country, in the Great Victoria Desert, Western Australia — home of the last nomads.”

The film focuses on Indigenous Australian Culture as the band tour across the Western Desert with songs of hunter-gatherer life.

Director of the film, Tristan Pemberton gives insight into the films making on Artbeat with Maxxi May.

Tristan is an award winning director, who’s work won Best Documentary Feature at the Poppy Jasper International Film Festival in California.

Gravel Road is showing at Luna Leederville, May 9th with Spinifex Country Band Desert Stars performing live in-cinema.
