Kurunpa Kunpu | Strong Spirit exhibition

Kur-un-pa Kun-pu | Strong Spirit is an exhibition of new works, resulting from a multi-year cross-cultural design collaboration between Tanya Singer, Errol Evans (of Maruku Arts) and designer Trent Jansen.

Tanya Singer and Errol Evans are a husband and wife carving team. Singer comes from a family of artists and makers, working for many years with Maruku Arts. Evans was trained by his grandfather as a teenager.

Trent Janson is a seasoned collaborator working with other First Nations artists. He has developed a unique style of design, known as Design Anthropology, which seeks to respond to, and work with imperfections of humanity and the natural world.

From 06 May— 23 July, the exhibition has run along side the Revealed exhibition at Fremantle Arts Centre, Kurunpa Kunpu | Strong Spirit speaks to the resilience of both First Nations People and ngura (Country) while celebrating the possibilities of inter-cultural collaboration founded upon generosity, equality, and reciprocity.

Erroll Evans and Tanya Singer join Maxxi May on Artbeat, along with Trent Janson to discuss their new art exhibition, Kurunpa Kunpu | Strong Spirit.
