Plants in Space: Professor Harvey Millar

The University of Western Australia’s Plants for Space team has been given a boost in funding, one of three Australian universities to receive part of almost $3million from the UK Space Agency.

Plants for Space aims to create on-demand, zero-waste plants and plant products to support space exploration through autonomous agriculture.

Research is currently looking into stimulating how plant growth performs under the high CO2 conditions expected in space through simulated growth chambers.

Professor Harvey Millar from UWA’s School of Molecular Sciences chatted with Madeleine Mitchell about the research.
