International Art Project: Paper Trails Between Lion and Swan
Paper Trails Between Lion and Swan is the first of a two-phase collaborative exhibition curated by Harrison See, Desmond Mah & Yeo Chee Kiong featuring six artists from Singapore and six from Perth/Boorloo.
These two coastal and culturally diverse locations are bound by intersecting histories of British colonisation in the Asia Pacific region. To renegotiate these intersections in a contemporary context, the artists have explored paper and textiles as a metaphor for diaspora, trade and identity.
Phase one of the exhibition took place at the Singapore Gallery SCULPTURE 2052 as part of ‘Singapore Art Week’ in January 2024.
With the support of Artsource, phase two begins in Perth/Boorloo at Old Customs House in Fremantle from June 9-23.
The participating Australian artists include, Kelsey Ashe, Harrison See, Deborah Worthy-Collins, Di Cubitt, Sarah Thorton-Smith, Desmond Mah.
