Ray discusses the inspiring and incredible scenes as climate activists have been arrested after blockading the Newcastle coal port for the past 7+ days. the protesters are associated with Blockade Australia, who are challenging the fossil fuel industry, the system of exploitation and extraction in Australia. Blockade Australia challenge the underlying economic system that is supporting the fossil fuel industry.
Kim from Blockade Australia, who took part on the 26TH of June blocking of a coal train line, joins the show to discuss the importance of protesting and what Blockade Australia are up to in Newcastle at the moment.

Professor Salim Vally, South African human rights activist, South Africa’s National Research Foundation’s Chair in Community, Worker and Adult Education, based at the University of Johannesburg, joins to discuss the significance of the historic result in the recent South African election. The first time in 30 years where the African National Congress (ANC) did not win absolute majority in government and was forced to form government through a coalition.
Alex speaks with Professor Vally to discuss the historic event and what it could mean for South Africa.
