Blak Douglas vs The Commonwealth

Blak Douglas is one of Australia’s leading satirists and first nations story tellers, he is a multi-medium visual and audio artist, he is a lifelong advocate to decolonise across this continent, and a Deadly Didge player.

In this documentary directed by Angelica Cristina Dio, the filmmaker follows the artist, Blak Douglas, as he investigates his story about family, culture, art and colonialism, and exposing the painful truth that his grandmother was torn from her family as a child by the Aboriginal Protection Board and forced into servitude.

Diorama presents, Blak Douglas vs the Commonwealth screening Sunday 7 July and Saturday 13 July at Luna Cinema in Leederville for Revelation Perth International Film Festival.

Blak Douglas joins Danae Gibson on Artbeat to talk about the documentary ahead of its screening.
