The View From Here #27: New Talk

If there is one building in Perth that defines the city, 108 St Georges Terrace would be it. Formerly the R & I building, 108 St Georges Terrace is now the finest in the trio of sky scrapers that make our city skyline.

We hung out on the 51st floor of the iconic building with the quite amazing New Talk. Their raw, rhythm driven tunes perfectly fill the 51st floor as the weather closes in around them. So many floors up the clouds are with you and as they roll through their four song set the weather changes around them.

Punctuated by Kiera Owen’s soaring vocals and Alex Carrington’s driving guitar tones, New Talk are a force of nature. The silence in their songs is as powerful as the loudness and they perfectly use both. Sara on Bass and Jamie on Drums sit in the pocket of rhythm as a wash of sounds evolves around them, driving each song forward and further.

51 floors up, New Talk have helped us make one of the stand out View From Here’s both in location and in sound.
