The View From Here #34: Banjo Lucia

The View From Here continues for a sixth season on RTRFM, with 12 monthly instalments featuring some of our favourite local artists in iconic and unexpected locations across WA.

The second episode sees the mesmorising Banjo Lucia take to the rooftop of Perth’s sporting jewel, Optus Stadium. Banjo sits down at her piano on the deck of the stadium’s brand new space The Ozone, high above the playing field.

In a empty 60,000 seat stadium, Banjo’s voice soars as she rolls through three of her deeply personal and soulful songs. Her voice reverberates around the stadium, which despite being, empty would have all seats mesmerised if full.

She plays high above the field with her favourite team the Fremantle Dockers flags below her from a game days beforehand and a purpose-built viewing platform.

Her songs, taken from her recent EP Peccadilloes, tells stories of love, loss and coming of age. Her voice booms and her subtle keyboard playing is haunting.
