The Sumud Voices from Palestine in Margaret River

The term ‘Sumud’ صمود is an Arabic term and Palestinian idea that is interwoven with ideas of personal and collective resilience and steadfastness.

The Sumud Voices from Palestine is designed for discovery and connection, creating space for insight into the rich history and culture of Palestine, anchored in the experiences of proud Palestinians living in exile.

This exhibition is a collaboration with Naji Art Collective, a Palestinian creative network, and it includes posters and fine art prints of cartoons, paintings and digital drawings highlighting the creative and intellectual themes that define contemporary Palestinian art.

The Sumud Voices from Palestine on September, 21 in the Wooditchup-Margaret River region coincides with the final weekend of Margaret River Open Studios.

Speakers for the event include Palestinian justice advocate and Australia’s youngest politician, Independent Senator for Western Australia Fatima Payman and Nidal El’Khairy who is the founder of Naji Collective and a contributor to the Electronic Intifada, and more.

Ned Reilly from Celebrate Palestine South West and Hana from Naji Collective join Danae Gibson on Artbeat ahead of the event.
