‘Stuffed, Bolstered and Upholstered’ as part of IOTA24

Stuffed, Bolstered and Upholstered‘ is an exploration of fibre and woven forms in relation to the human body.

The artists use processes such as weaving, stitching, and draping to look at themes of climate change, intergenerational knowledge, identity and mental health.

Presented as part of IOTA24: Codes in Parallel, the exhibition will investigate systems of power as they are enacted upon bodies.

It includes new art commissions, artist loans and works from UWA Art Collection, Cruthers Collection of Women’s Art, and Berndt Museum.

Featuring works by Zanny Begg, Sam Bloor, Eliza Campbell, Katthy Cavaliere, Annabelle Collett, Jess Day, Sharyn Egan, Rina Franz, Fiona Gavino, Teelah George, Pamela Harris, Nora Holland, Judith Lodwick, Janine McAullay Bott, Sidney Nolan, Deborah Prior, Jody Quackenbush, Bev Thomson, Richard and Rickeeta Walley, Sera Waters, Judy Watson and Joyce Winsley.

The exhibition runs until December, 7 at Lawrence Wilson Art Gallery.

Curator, Lee Kinsella joins Bec Bowman on Artbeat to talk about the exhibition.
