Songs for Freedom’s final performance

Presented by Big hART and the City of Melville, Songs for Freedom is returning for the fourth and final time to the shores of Dyoondalup Point Walter on October, 12.

This year’s concert marks the end of an incredible 14-year project created by Ngarluma and Yindjibarndi artists, with Songs for Freedom drawing to a close to make way for new initiatives in Ieramugadu and beyond.

Alongside the concert, Big hART is working with State and Federal Attorney Generals in a campaign to highlight the high incarceration rates of Aboriginal children in Australian prisons.

Since 2010, supported by the watchful eye of Ngarluma and Yindjibarndi Elders, the project has delivered workshops in the community, the school and the prison, creating digital content, music, theatre and performance to change the negative stories told about Roebourne.
