Key details still missing from Australia’s social media ban

A world first bill restricting social media use for under 16s is being debated in the Australian federal parliament, but questions remain about how the ban will practically work.

The ban aims to reduce online harm, as well as problems associated with algorithmic sorting, however experts have raised concerns over how the laws will be enforced and who will be responsible for mitigating associated risks.
