First Nations footballers participation in Australian Rules footy

From revolutionary Geelong ruckman Graham “Polly” Farmer to the Krakouer brothers at North Melbourne, Indigenous athletes have long shone brightly on AFL fields.

Recently, there has been a worrying drop in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander players and draft picks.

It’s clear that there is an issue with Indigenous participation in footy, and the AFL draft is only part of the solution.

We will hear from Dr Andrew Peters, a researcher for an article published for The Conversation on the lack of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander representation in the AFL draft, and the issues that surround it.
