WA artists highlight Hyde Park in new exhibit

Four leading contemporary WA artists are staging an exhibition on one of Perth’s beloved local parks. The exhibit is called “Hyde Park”, and promises to be “a visual conversation that celebrates Hyde Park and the current challenges it faces” (Inglewood Arts Hub).

The event features over 40 artworks including paintings, drawings and textiles, created by artists Kirsten Hocking, Alex Kyriakacis, Emma Nolan, and Laura Peden through the process of regular group meetings that they held in the park.

Alex Kyriacis and Kirsten Hocking joined Danae Gibson on Artbeat to discuss their experiences at Hyde Park, the different perspectives in their work, and incorporating discussion of the park’s environmental issues into the exhibit.

The Hyde Park exhibit is running until 16 August 2025 at The Inglewood Arts Hub.
