Takács Quartet and Musica Viva celebrate anniversaries with national tour

A highlight of MVA’s 80th year, this tour is a tribute to MVA’s founders and welcomes the pre-eminent string quartet Takács Quartet back to Australia as part of their own 50th anniversary world tour.

Performing masterpieces by Beethoven and Haydn, they will also world premiere a new commission from Australian composer Cathy Milliken, inspired by Bertholt Brecht’s Sonnet in Emigration, narrated by Angie Milliken.

Takács Quartet’s viola player, Richard O’Neill, joined Bec Bowman on Artbeat to discuss the tour, the new piece they’re performing, and the Quartet’s own personal relationships with emigration.

Musica Viva’s National tour – Takács Quartet & Angie Milliken – is running from August 14-25, with them performing in Perth on 25 August.
